Field Instrument Engineer

The Role:
Purpose of the role

The purpose of the Field Instrument Engineer is to ensure that all the instrumentation installed on the project meet National, International and company standards and support delivery of a safe and reliable plant to the planned cost and schedule.The role will work as part of the Instrumentation discipline. The role will be in charge of defining all the standards, specifications for the field instrumentation that will be installed on the project . Will provide functional support and guidance to the project Instrument engineers where they are in place. Where project Instrument Engineer are not in place, the person will perform the role of Instrument Engineer for that project.

In order to ensure that standardisation and consistency across the whole project the role will liaise with the Process and Operations disciplines within the IPMT, and with the relevant disciplines in the FEED/EPC contractors.

Accountabilities:

The role reports to the Instrument and Protective Systems Team Leader. The role responsibilities include:

Pre-Feed Study Role:

*Support the Instrument and Protective Systems Team Leader and other team members to develop a clear and concise set of instrumentation standards and specifications which meet organisation, National and International standards, and established good engineering practice.
*Own the Instrumentation Field elements of the projects Standards and advise/approve Deviations and Waivers to the standards throughout the project.

FEED and Beneficial Engineering Role:

*Support the Instrument and Protective Systems Team Leader and other team members in the performance of their duties.
*Work closely with the Instrument Engineers to ensure that all Instrumentation issues are properly resolved in a timely manner, and that designs are appropriate and comply with all of the project and statutory requirements and Stakeholder expectations.
*Assist with detailed review of all FEED Contractors, MAC and other vendor systems, processes and procedures, including PEPs, Quality Plans, etc for Control and Automation aspects.
*Provide Instrumentation Engineering input into the preparation, review and approval of Procurement procedures, the Project Supplier List, contractor/vendor pre-qualification, Purchase Requisitions, Invitations to Tender, etc.
*Provide Instrumentation Engineering input into tender clarification/evaluation, contractor/vendor selection and contract/purchase order negotiation and placement, ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with the company Code of Conduct

EPC Role:

*Responsibilities generally as above (but now related to working with the EPC Contractors).
*Ensure the facilities are designed, built and commissioned in compliance with all relevant statutory and project regulations
*Support the EPC Contractor and vendors develop fit-for-purpose ITPs for equipment, packages and bulk material supply, auditing vendor compliance as required
*Support the EPC Contractor develop fit-for-purpose ITPs for fabrication and construction, auditing contractor compliance as required
*Liaise closely with the EPC Contractor personnel at the Module Fabrication Yard(s) and Construction Site on all Instrumentation Engineering matters, ensuring yard/field technical queries are resolved in a proper and timely manner
*Work with the project IP&S engineer to ensure that all module fabrication and construction work, system Completions and Handover, punch listing, ensuring that all IP&S Engineering work satisfies the project specifications and standards
*Support pre-commissioning and commissioning, etc. as required
*Assist in managing the relevant interfaces with company stakeholders, ensuring the Operations function is well-prepared for eventual project ownership, including the timely handover of the agreed Instrumentation Engineering deliverables to support training, operations and maintenance procedure development, Maintenance Management System population, etc.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
It would be advantageous if personnel would also have the following background work experience:

*Major project experience with strong design engineering background and a broad understanding of multiple disciplines and their interfaces.
*Proven track record of delivering leading SHE performance.
*Experience of supervising work in a Contractor’s Design Office
*Experience of supervising work in a Module Fabrication Shop
*Experience of field engineering and/or construction on a major Construction Site.
*Experience of commissioning.

Specific Role Requirements:

*Degree qualified and chartered or equivalent in appropriate engineering discipline.
*More than15 years’ experience in Engineering role in Oil and gas or Petrochemical setting.
*Operations/Maintenance of SIS experience (ABB, Emerson, Honeywell, Schneider or Yokogawa) and/or implementation of a Functional Safety Management Lifecycle Plan would be a significant advantage
*Seasoned and experienced Engineer.
